Job Vacancy: Support Services Manager

St Ives Town Council wants to appoint a Support Services Manager to oversee a range of important services in the town.
Accountable to the Town Clerk and based in the Guildhall in the centre of the town, you will manage a small team whose job is to make sure that the council works well. This includes overseeing the town’s civic ceremonies and council meetings, making sure that the council is listening to local people, making best use of the council’s buildings and arranging training for staff.
The post’s responsibilities are an exciting mix of celebrating the past and improving the council’s services now and in the future. So, the postholder will have responsibilities that range from making sure that the council’s role in ancient ceremonies such as St Ives Feast Day is carried out diligently and respectfully, to leading the marketing and maximising the use made of the library, concert hall and Island Centre.

St Ives Town Council is responsible for a range of services across St Ives, Carbis Bay, Lelant and Halsetown. It owns four public buildings from which it derives an income which the council hopes to increase. The council is keen to widen its remit and responsibilities and to work collaboratively with businesses and community groups to improve the lives of local residents and visitors to the area. While it is helpful to have previously worked in a town council, we don’t consider that essential. We’re much more interested in finding the right person with the right qualities.
However, we do need you to be computer literate and to have A-levels or an equivalent qualification. We also need you to have had previous experience of managing people and services, and to work under your own initiative.
