Platinum Jubilee Events & St Ives 1953

To commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, St Ives Town Council, St Ives Archive and St Ives Times & Echo dived into the archives to discover how St Ives celebrated the Queen’s coronation.

Through this collaboration they have created a micro site, initially design by Meor and produced by our Digital Marketing Apprentice, Michael Skeggs. You can find the website ON THIS LINK

Throughout St Ives Parish a number of events took place to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee from the 2 – 5 June 2022.

Name: St Ives BID Jubilee Window Design
Details: Do you want to promote your business and join in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations planned in the town? Then why not join in with a window competition. BID is offering businesses support to decorate your windows, and Jo Macintosh will be walking around town to have a chat with you and see if you’d like to take part. Time: 9.30am – 4pm
Venue: Library & Information Centre
Details: Decorate a bunting triangle to add to our display and make a flag to take away and wave at the street party. The Friends of St Ives Library will be providing refreshments as you craft on Thursday 2nd June 10am-12pm

Name: Queens Platinum Jubilee Party and Unveiling of Barrie Fenton Picture
Time: 4pm – 6pm
Venue: Fenton Hall, Porthrepta Car Park, Carbis Bay
Details: Please bring a plate/s of food to share. We will be providing drinks and scones & cream. Fancy Hat / Crown competition for all to enter There is no charge to attend but we will be holding a raffle If you would like to attend, please email us saying how many of you will be coming along also what type of food you will be bringing. Details: In partnership with the NCI Coastwatch the Town Council will be illuminating the Island Chapel linking into the national beacons celebrations.

Friday 3rd June

Venue: Carbis Bay Memorial Hall
Details: Bouncy castle, games, face painting & music, bring a picnic, chairs or a rug to sit on, BBQ available to cook your own food
Enjoy a party in the garden – Open to all Carbis Bay residents and their families
NOTE: If possible please walk to the venue parking will be limited except for disabled persons

Details: Looking for something extra special to do for the Jubilee weekend? St Ives Churches present a fantastic opportunity to dine in an environment fit for the Queen. The Victorian church of St John’s provides the perfect backdrop for an evening banquet followed by a concert of regal music given by “Resurgam” choir. Expect to hear such classics as “Zadok the Priest”, “Jerusalem”, “I was Glad” and the specially composed Jubilee anthem “A Life Lived With Grace.” With a sumptuous menu and delicious drinks on offer as well as table service, you’ll almost feel like you’re at Buckingham Palace! The flags will be flying and we’re encouraging you to wear your glad rags. There’ll be a chance to dance to end the night.

10am – 11pm: All Day Big Lunch (St Ives BID and Wharf Road Businesses)

Details:
St Ives BID will be hosting a Jubilee Big Lunch street party on the Wharf on Sunday 5th June and would like to invite businesses, residents and visitors to take part and have some fun. Wharf Road will be closed from 08:30 – 23:00 to traffic and table and chair available for you to use – residents, fishermen, businesses and essential traffic will be directed along Fore Street (one way will be reversed). BYO food or buy from the many restaurants and takeaways around the town. Volunteers are welcome contact Sarah@stivesbid.co.uk if you can help in any way and if you know of any singers or entertainers who might like to performance, please ask them to contact Sarah@stivesbid.co.uk.

Details: We’ll be singing her favourite hymn. Afterwards you can enjoy a picnic on the church lawn and singing from St Ives Churches together. Bring your own picnic, Pimms and Prosecco available to buy. At 1.30pm there will be free cream teas and at 2pm Song’s of Praise.
