Every year St Ives celebrates special gardens, public spaces, flower and veg growing through its annual garden competition.
There are various categories, from overall best garden to a wildlife garden or to simply a hanging basket or window box. Anyone from St Ives, Carbis Bay, Lelant and Halsetown can enter or you can nominate someone else’s. All of the allotments at Trowan allotment site are entered automatically.
Although a competition, the aim is a light-hearted and good-natured event – a celebration of local gardens. The award winning entries are celebrated in a presentation evening with photographs, gardening tips and refreshments.’
The categories are:
*Proof/ Declaration must be given that no pesticides (Glysophates) have been used in the garden.
Fully Accessible – flat access and lifts available.
Partially Accessible – Some slopes, steps and rough ground.
Not Accessible – Steps, rough ground and steep access. Not suitable for persons in a wheelchair.
