If you are looking for some inspiring and fun events for December, come to St Ives Library where you can create Christmas decorations, a beautiful winter story box, enjoy an evening of cinnamon spiced tales and sing carols until your hearts content.
Come out of the cold and spend a couple of hours creating your own winter shadow story box with artist Melanie Young on Saturday 11th December. Melanie is an artist based in Cornwall, who has exhibited her work both in the UK and internationally. Her work has been showcased in large exhibitions and art fairs, such as the Saatchi Other Art Fair. She is currently represented by Agora Gallery in New York.
Melanie will be running two workshops 10am and 1:30pm, which are suitable for anybody aged 12+. Due to the nature of the workshop spaces are limited, so advance booking essential and all tickets £10.
“It’s always a delight to see what wonderful imagery can be created when imaginations run wild – snowflakes, bare spikey branches of trees, birds flying in the cold sky. These workshops are great fun, and once you know how to make them, a simple but effective way to illuminate your home. We’ve also an opportunity for the story lanterns to then form part of the setting for the ‘Dark Nights Stories and Songs’ performance the following Friday 17th participants can take them home afterwards – it would be lovely to light up the library with our collective lanterns!” Melanie Young .
On Friday 17th December, the library will be hosting it’s first evening event in long time when it welcomes the extraordinary talents of Annamaria Murphy and The Story Republic performing ‘Dark Nights Stories and Song’s ‘ an evening of an evening of cinnamon spiced tales.
