At their last session on the 20 June 2019, the St Ives Bay Youth Council chose to produce posters to warn people not to feed the seals. This followed their concern that a seal had been injured by a rudder in the harbour last year. The Harbour master agreed to display the posters, and copies have also gone up in the Library and the Guildhall. The idea of the children was welcomed by the Cornwall Seal Sanctuary who said that it was fantastic that they were aware of the problem.
Please print and display these posters where you can:
St Ives Bay Youth Council meets every term and is comprised of representatives from the local schools. This year, as well as making posters, they have made decorations for the Guildhall Christmas tree and were involved in the opening of the library after it had been refurbished and passed into the hands of St Ives town council.
