On Monday evening, we recognised and celebrated some of the shining stars we have in our community that are quietly doing amazing things without seeking recognition.

For his work with the Royal British Legion and as a tireless champion for the armed forces past and present over many years.

Esme Deacon
For the Jim Hodge Award for Bravery In May 2024, Esme showed fearless bravery using a tourist’s body board to rescue 2 stranded swimmers at Porthmeor Beach and waited with them until paramedics arrived.

John Navin
For his work as a surf and rugby coach and for the Wave Project helping those struggling with mental health challenges and physical and learning disabilities.

Joel Ninnes
For showing community leadership, bringing local people together to preserve the important tradition of good Friday boating and setting up the ‘Friends of Consols pool’.

Sarah Robinson
For her fundraising efforts at St Uny School to support children and families in the community of Carbis Bay.
