Allotments
We manage public open spaces, such as the Palemon Best recreation ground and the Trowan allotments, cut footpaths and carry out street weeding. We also look after important pieces of public realm, including the town CCTV system, festoon lighting and over 200 benches.
But we have an ambition to do much more.
The Council is beginning negotiations with Cornwall Council under their devolution programme to take over the ownership and management of all public and green spaces in the parish. These include:
- Richmond Park, Carbis Bay
- Ayr Field
- Chy-an-Gweal Gardens
- Trewyn Gardens
Ā
Why? Because we believe that local councils are better able to prioritise investment in green spaces andĀ reflect the community’s wishes on how these important assets should be managed. The Council would also like to work with community groups about developing a wider range of community growing spaces, allotments and orchards.Ā
The Council will provide regular updates, as these discussions progress.
Our Open Spaces
From beaches to allotments, historic monuments to modern stakeparks we are blessed with our outside spaces.
