St Ives Town Council has announced five winners of its St Ives Stars Awards
The Council want to recognise the people in our community that are quietly doing amazing things, without seeking recognition. There was a great response to the call for nominations, and it proved difficult for the panel, making the final decision to select just a few winners.
In presenting the awards, the newly elected Mayor of St Ives Councillor Johnnie Wells said:
“There were some very strong nominations, and this was a tough decision, reflecting how many people are working hard for St Ives. After much reflection, the panel is proud to make five awards to very worthy winners:
Tony Mason: for achievements in preserving and celebrating local heritage and culture.
Liz Angus Noall: for tireless local charity fundraising
Josh Rogers: for work with the children and young people
Rupert Manley: for achievements in protecting and enhancing the local environment
A special posthumous star was awarded to Jim Hodge – in recognition of his acts of bravery and services to the people of St Ives. Collecting the award was his daughter Janet Mitchell
