This week St Ives Town Council take ownership of a valued local park.
“It’s been a long journey, but I am pleased and proud to announce the hand-over of such an important park in Carbis Bay into the ownership of the Town Council.
Last year, we asked local people about our exciting designs for the park. We had a great response and also, worked closely with St Uny School on the plans. Today as we take ownership, I am sharing the outcome of the consultation, with an update on what will happen next.
There was overwhelming support for improvements for the park, strong support for new play equipment, seating, planting and trees, but also a desire to hold onto the Gardens as an inclusive space where everyone was still welcome. We’ve listened to local views and also, been raising funds and we can share a revised scheme very soon.
Many people have worked together to realise a new future for the park, with improved facilities for children and adults alike and where we make more space for nature. It’s a great local green space, but it could be so much more. I would like to personally thank Councillor Linda Taylor and all at the Town Council for helping us make our dream come true.
It’s just the beginning, but we want to share our exciting news and a bright new future for our new local park.
We did it!”
