Community & Living

As the Town Council, we are responsible for managing a number of Services.

You can use the links above or find out more about what we manage below.

Allotments – the town council has provided allotments on an out of town site at Trowan.

Buildings – Our building portfolio consists of a wide variety of spaces from concert spaces, sport halls and intimate rooms perfect for a family function, to commercial property suitable for both long and short term leases.

Grants – the council has an annual grants fund which is awarded to local organisations, community events, etc

Library and Information Service

Dog control orders –  in response to calls for controls of dogs on a number of beaches and a footpath in the parish of St Ives, Cornwall Council has applied the Dog Control Orders, with the aim of striking a balance for the various beach users.

Memorial & Public Benches – There are over 200 public benches in the parish of St Ives. St Ives Town Council took over the ownership and management of the benches from Cornwall Council in 2023.

Seagull advice – not a statutory duty of the council, but in view of complaints from residents and visitors, the town council has compiled a seagull advice leaflet which may be downloaded.

Tourist Information – the town council runs the St Ives Library & Information Service – based in the Library.  This is a valued service used by visitors to the town and residents alike.  Tourist information, left luggage, books, maps and souvenirs – well worth a visit when in St Ives!

Weddings – The Guildhall is licensed as a civil ceremony venue and so weddings can be held in the Council Chamber, Balcony Room or Mayors Parlour.

Yonkers – Yonkers is the Youth arm of St Ives Town Council. As a youth team they aim to represent 11–25 year olds across St Ives.
