A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR OF ST IVES, COUNCILLOR TONY HARRIS, REGARDING THE G7 SUMMIT BEING HELD IN ST IVES, JUNE 2021:
‘On behalf of the residents of St Ives and the St Ives Town Council I look forward to our offering a warm welcome to world leaders at the G7 in June. St Ives has a world- renowned reputation for its superb hospitality and our scenery and setting is second-to-none. The Summit will bring a much-needed boost to the town as well as a focus on the delights of Cornwall in general and St Ives in particular, and we are excited to be playing our part in showing the very best of Cornish hospitality as well as helping to create a lasting legacy from the Summit.’
Details G7 Summit June 2021:
Summit of international leaders will be held in Carbis Bay, St Ives and other venues across Cornwall from 11-13th June 2021.The G7 – which is made up of the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the USA and the EU – is the only forum where leaders of the world’s most influential and open societies and advanced economies are brought together for close-knit discussions. They will also be joined by the leaders of Australia, India and South Korea who will attend as guests. The leaders’ meeting itself will be held on 11-13 June at the Carbis Bay Estate. Contingencies are also in place to respond to public health advice and ensure the Summit is Covid-safe. International delegates will also be staying at the Tregenna Castle Resort and other locations in neighbouring St Ives and around Cornwall. Cornwall Airport Newquay and the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth will also play an official role in the Summit with Falmouth hosting UK and international media.
