We would like to advise you that long-awaited repairs to our much-loved Library & Visitor Information Centre are scheduled to start shortly. The works will include a full replacement of the slate roof, urgent masonry repairs, window painting, signage and the installation of solar panels.
Due to the nature of this high-level work and the volume of traffic on Library corner, a bespoke scaffold system has been designed in consultation with Cornwall Council Highways and Street Works Department. Safety has been the key factor in the design of the scaffold.
We understand fully, the frustration such works can cause in our small town. But these works are desperately needed, and were planned early in the year. All scaffolding must await the issue of a streetworks licence and so the timing was out of our hands. We are working with Atlantic Building Consultants and Early Rise Scaffolding. If you would like to know more about the works, then please contact us on enquiries@stives-tc.gov.uk or call 01736 797840.
Start date: Week of the 17th April 2023
Approximate end date: Week of the 12th of June 2023
Why now: The Town Council applied for the Street Works / pavement licence with Cornwall Council Highways in January 2023, and this was the earliest date we have been granted.
To reflect limited access to the building (and reduce the footfall near the scaffold and pavement) we will operating reduced opening hours. From Monday the 24th April, the Library and VIC be opening mornings only, from 9.30am to 1pm.
More details of the works can be seen below.
Thank you for your understanding.
