St Ives Guildhall Renewal Project Update

Guildhall Renewal Project Update

We are really glad to see the ongoing progress of several of the St Ives Town Deal projects across the town including our very own Guildhall Renewal Project. However, due to a number of delays outside our control, the Council has had to accept the difficult news that our anticipated opening date has to be revised to early 2027.

The updated timeline reflects a combination of factors, not least the complexity of working within a heritage building as the ground conditions have revealed far more extensive challenges, including a lack of sound foundation material and defective underground drainage. There have also been a number of issues in relation to a neighbouring development site, not in our ownership, which have taken time to resolve. The extended programme is necessary to make good these additional structural defects and allow the project team to complete the redevelopment to the quality and standard expected.

As with many large scale construction projects, delays are expected, but the Council remains committed to delivering an exceptional Guildhall that will serve future generations of residents and visitors.

Whilst we wait for our brilliant venue to be completed, we’ll be bringing a programme of music, performance and community-led events to a range of spaces across the parish through our new initiative, Guildhall Presents. As part of this, we’re taking over the main stage at St Ives Food and Drink Festival on Sunday 17th May, featuring a fantastic line-up of local talent, including musicians from St Ives School, Martha Woods, Jack Kessell, The Regalos, Jacob Coley, Daisy Mae, Peri Rae, Rue and Séamus McKenna. We’d love for you to join us to support these incredible artists.
