St Ives Town Council Cornwall is thrilled to be able to offer St Ives Surf Life Saving Club a new home at the former Porthmeor Bowling Club House. The club has worked with many generations of children growing up in the parish, passing on valuable life skills and experience, essential for a community which lives near the water. They need a base near where they train, so this is the perfect solution. The keys were officially handed over today by Johnnie Wells, Mayor of St Ives.
“Many thanks to St Ives Town Council, we are thrilled to have such an amazing space to use as our community clubhouse and look forward to welcoming our members to their new home”
Duncan Wilson and Christine Simpson, St Ives Surf Life Saving Club
Many people will be aware of the project in St Ives called devolution, where land and buildings are being passed from Cornwall Council into the custodianship of the Town Council. This creates more opportunities for green spaces and buildings to be available for local community groups and businesses to use or rent, and helps us safeguard their future.
