The post holder will be one of a small team of frontline staff welcoming, assisting and advising visitors in the building. S/he will be proactive in helping people to find the information they need or to purchase products, tickets and services. S/he will be a first point of contact for people making enquiries about the town, town council and Cornwall Council services.
The Town Council wants to achieve high satisfaction among people who use the building and its services, which will be reflected healthy number of library users, in a high footfall, high numbers of return visitors and a healthy financial turnover. The Assistant will contribute to this by actively engaging with service users and doing all they can to make their visits successful and enjoyable.
The role entails working outside normal office hours, including weekends and potentially some evenings. It also involves handling payment transactions for council services, including assisting service users to use electronic and kiosk payment methods.
