WORKS AT CARBIS BAY: STATEMENT FROM MAYOR OF ST IVES, COUNCILLOR TONY HARRIS

  • March 10, 2021

The Town Council strongly supports the hosting of the summit in Carbis Bay. However, it is very disappointed about negative press reports of works being carried out in the Valley. The Council has seen the photographic evidence and is concerned to establish what is permitted as clearance works and if any works are being carried out without a valid planning permission. It does not think that any company or individual should be carrying out works before receiving permission. The Council is not the Planning Authority, and it has made urgent enquiries to Cornwall Council Planning Authority. It understands that a planning application has been registered and also that an officer has been appointed to investigate a possible breach. The Council would urge the Planning Authority to conclude these investigations quickly and advise the applicant to stop works if they are unlawful. It is frustrating that what should be a very positive opportunity for our communities is being overshadowed in this way.
