Project Name: Action on the Climate and Nature Emergency

Add Your Heading Text Here

The Town Council has declared a climate and nature emergency and, like many local councils and not for profit organisations, has developed a series of actions and policies to support its own stated ambition to move towards net zero.

The Council’s ambitions are set out in its strategic plan and are then reflected throughout its work programmes. But as a small town council, far more can be achieved by working with others. To achieve this, the Council has established a cross sector climate action working group. The group has representatives from the three sectors of community, business and local government and meets regularly to align work programmes, share ideas and good practice. The ambition of the group is to develop a Community Interest Company for St Ives to deliver on environmental and climate goals.

Council Policies and Projects

The Council has adopted a climate action plan which is reviewed annually and managed by the Community and Environment Committee. The action plan recognises the various roles the Council can play, as land and property owner, as partner with community and local business groups and as an organisation which aims to influence and shape the practices of others.
